Duchess Catherine's Hats

Two of the hats of the Duchess of Cambridge each recovered over double their estimated prices by asking an auction held yesterday in Bermondsey.

Black and White hat by The Phillip Somerville was sold for £3,120 - compared to its £1,000 - £1,500 estimate, which is worn by the Duchess to Prince William’s Order of the Garter presentation in June 2008; While the black Aurora hat, seen on the 30-year-old royal at friend Harry Meade’s wedding in October 2010, sold for £3,600 - rather than its £1,000 - £1,500 estimate. Both the hats are bought by an American bidder, were borrowed for the occasion.

Although the Duchess' wardrobe has made countless headlines this week (reports have suggested that her annual fashion spending was over £30,000), the Queen's eternal style has also had a powerful impact on the shopping world of late. Over the Jubilee weekend, Her Majesty stepped out in three custom-made Lautner handbags - causing the label's sales to rise by 58 per cent.

Dolce & Gabbana Couture

DOLCE & GABBANA is going to introduce its very own first ever couture collection next month, which will be showed during a presentation in Sicily on July 9. The pair hinted that they were planning a bespoke line at the Vogue Festival in April.

"Now the D&G label and Dolce & Gabbana are one, we can have pieces from an opening price to a high price," said Gabbana. "We have a new fine jewellery collection; one for men - and we also want to make something more special in the future, so couture? It's possible."
